The Cascade Tenchijin Dojo is dedicated to the study of Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu, the martial art of Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi of Nodashi, Japan. The dojo was founded by Aric Keith (9th Dan). The school is affiliated with the Tenchijin Dojo founded by Mr. Bill Atkins. Mr. Atkins was one of the first westerners to attain the level of "Shidoshi" (instructor) in the Bujinkan system of martial arts. The Bujinkan martial arts are derived from nine very old traditions of combat. Discipline and character are learned as students study and come to understand the nature of martial techniques. The pursuit of these techniques allows the student to gain a unique persepective of the value of life and morality that transcends simple exercise or sport. Phil Smith has been involved with the Bujinkan martial arts since the early nineties. In '97 he became a student of Peter Kramer and joined the Tenchijin Dojo. Since that time, he has become a student of Aric Keith of the Cascade Tenchijin Dojo. Under the guidence of Aric Keith (www.Cascadetenchijindojo.com) and Bill Atkins, Phil continues his studies in the Bujinkan often traveling to train with other artists around the country and internationally. Currently Phil is training in the T.B.A under Kru Paul Pax. Thai Boxing has been a great way for him to shed weight and gain some insight into other skills. While other may disagree, he feels that the two work very nicely with each other. Below:Hatsumi Sensei, soke of the Bujinkan Dojo google1b3fbc637adea2e7.html |
